Birthday Blog. Everything's cool.

Well here I am at 28. The last rafter before the ceiling of 29. Which keeps us safe in the house of “she’s young, she’ll learn” before busting through into the wide open air of the thirties where you are a for-real adult and the expression changes to “she’s an idiot”. I have decided to give myself a few different gifts for my birthday, none of them tangible but all of them helpful. The biggest one is that I’ve decided to quit smoking. For real. It’s going to suck, I’ve been smoking since I was 13. But we’re going to make it work because I would like to not die of lung cancer before I even get to thirty. So that’s the main gift.

This birthday is funny. I woke up to the standard two or three drunk text messages from friends, got ready for work and never really felt birthday-ish. The trains were packed and some lady got mugged or something at Fullerton so police were everywhere. They are everywhere today anyway due to the date so it was a little bit of a gloomy ride. But when I got to work I had lots of e-cards and emails so that was nice! Thanks Kids!

Tonight my parents and our friend Cheri and I will be having dinner at a pink French restaurant which I’m very excited about. It’s a low key birthday but I’m down with that. After dinner I'm just going to head back home and hang out with my handsome husband and adorable children...oh, I mean I'm going to lay on the floor and watch more of the first season of Greys Anatomy with my cat. It's cool though...it's...cool.

I'm not freaking out about my birthday. 28 feels better than 27. I think 27 was a little sketchy. 27 was like “Damn! I ain’t gonna be some whack adult, f that!” whereas 28 seems to be like “Whatever, I’m 28, it’s all good”. You know what I mean? Of course you do, I always make such clear sense.

Please buy tickets for Mortified, September 19 and 26. Do it as a birthday present to me. Do it as a birthday present to yourself. Just do it. www.getmortified.com
