I was stage managing "Poseidon: An Upside Down Musical" and Brannen was playing Acres. I was still sort of new to Chicago and I had just gotten my first apartment in beautiful glamorous Edgewater. During announcements before the rehearsal I said, "Um...if any of you live near Kenmore and Glenlake...you're going to be my new best friend." Brannen raised his hand..."I'm on Winthrop, about a block away." I had never even really talked to Brannen but I pointed to him and said, "Great...you're it." When I moved in Brannen took me to the local Dominicks by our houses and we started hanging out all the time. Now we are BFF. We were like a married couple right away with our most common fight being:
"Brannen! Why are you so unchivalrous?! Walk me home!"
"You live a block away"
"But I could get killed!"
"Oh yeah, like I could really protect you from a killer"
"Well you could at least try, that would be nice"
etc etc etc.
Anyway, we lived there a block away from each other for a long while until I decided I needed more gays in my life and moved to Boystown and Brannen moved to his current house. It was strange and sad not to live a block away from each other anymore (for me anyway) and I worried that our friendship might fade away and die. But it didn't.
Then I moved to Ravenswood where I am now, and I'm not real sure if I live close to Brannen or not..I don't fully understand where I live yet in relation to where everything else is. But this conversation happened with Brannen:
"In my new house will I live closer or farther away from you?"
"A little closer, but more west."
"Oh. Hmm. Well, whatever, can you just keep giving me rides to everything?"
"Sure."
So...why am I telling you all of this?
Because a fire has been lit on the legacy of "Brooke and Brannen: Friends and Neighbors". Brannen's moving into the hood. The Ravenshood. And since he was too stressed out about moving to even look for a place....I found him one. We took a tour and it's an awesome place. And he's moving in October 1.
And it's one block away from me.

Which means you both are in my hood now...but a tad south. We can walk to each other's houses in 14 minutes...or drive in 5.
Yay!!!!!
I love happy endings. :-)
