Crouching Tiger, Hidden Cove

Thank you Hidden Cove Lounge and Karaoke Bar on Lincoln!

I always have such a fun time there. This saturday was no exception. After seeing Brannen in Bark The Musical (again) we headed off to the Cove where Brigitte's Birthday Extravaganza was in full swing.

And now, for your viewing delight...a birthday photoblog.

(Oh and also, the bartender bought me a drink! He said, "Hey Baby, this one's on me." I got all squealy and girly cause I haven't felt like a starlet in a very long time. Derek was kind enough to point out that he probably just thought I was Brigitte and was buying me a birthday drink. This may be true, but whatever...thanks bartender. )

First I would like to show you a picture of me and Brannen and Clarissa at the Hidden Cove in 2004, immediately followed by the three of us on Saturday.

2004

2006

Well, we look pretty much the same, except older and with more clothes on. But I suppose that's how it goes, the older you get, the more clothes you really have to wear when you go out. I haven't seen Brannen in his little muscle tee in a long time. The other difference is that in the 2004 HC picture we are all really hopeful and thinking we're really hot. In the 2006 version we're like, "Someone go get Mama another drink, and rub my feet." And we all have these "so over it" expressions in 2006. And the first picture was back in the "Watch out for Steve's camera" days wheras now we are in the "Watch out for Brookes camera phone" era. Oh well. Hilarious.

Birthday Girl! Nothing brings a group together like Total Eclipse of the Heart.

"Tell me more tell me more, shoo bop bop, shoo bop bop yeah!" See, I don't ONLY have gay male friends. Here are Clarissa, Melissa, Briggy and me. We get together in a group like this and talk about the weather for two minutes before immediatley starting a conversation about boys. We have old school sleepovers now and then. Once Melissa tried to impress us all with her knowledge of "Ear Candling" and Brigitte and I were hearing conversations from across the country for a week.

We think the other one is very attractive. However, we don't think we are that twinny. I mean, I get her emails, I get calls for her. Her roomate once came up to me and started talking to me like I was her. We don't get it. Maybe it's our names?

Shlamiel, Shlamazel...we're gonna do it! Derek sings the Laverne and Shirley theme song while Timmy Holds up a beer bottle with a glove on it like in the opening credits. I love my campy friends.

Brendon is the tallest person I've ever met.

Brannen loves his new red scarf that I made him. And I am more and more impressed with myself each time I see it. This might be my new favorite picture of B and me.

Melissa sings. And dances. And the crowd goes wild. Later on Brannen and I find Melissa aimlessly staring at nothing and smiling. That's the kind of person she is. So we stare at her until she notices and then make fun of her. Cause that's the kind of people we are.

Ladies, there is a straight man in this photo. If it wern't for his presence here I'd be Haggy McHaggerton in this pic..

Timmy is one of my friends who can make me laugh harder than anyone else. Everytime I get near him it's like a curtain rises and we have fifteen minutes to do our bit, even though no one is watching. I adore Timmy.

My cutie pie friends. Or...Melissa as the hag. Here we have Steve, Alex, Timmy, Ed, Brannen (in his BEAUTIFUL new scarf) and Derek. There are two straighties in this pic who are getting married soon! Try to guess who they are.

Karaoke continues in the car on the way home. And by karaoke I just mean me, in the backseat, drunkenly singing to myself.

Goodnight, and good luck.

He should spice it up, there are so many other gret tv sitcom theme songs to sing at karaoke. or, you know, real songs.

Brooke-
Our twin picture looks like I am the devil with three chins. Please put that far, far away.
