It occurred to me that I would like to get really skinny and run a race. Not a marathon of course, but maybe like a 5k.
How does one begin something like this? Does it involve getting a gym membership? Does it involve treadmills?
One time I wanted to see how far I could walk and so I walked from my house in uptown to North and Clark. That's not all that far, plus I had to take the bus back.
On second thought maybe I will just eat some leftover pizza.
Wait! No, I really was inspired by this...I want to train and get in shape and then run a little race.
Oh wait...I have asthma though, and arthritis knee. Shit.
Leftover pizza it is.
Although, plenty of people overcome these things and run anyway...
Pepperoni...
Getting a little medal....
I'm torn. Give me advice. Should I eat some leftover pizza or learn how to run in a little race?
I wish I had a trainer.
And some ranch dressing.
This requires more thought I think.

Run the race and eat pizza. Just less pizza and lots of ice and ibprofen for arthritis knee. You'll feel like crud for a couple days after, but I'm sure you can do it! I could do it in my healthier days. Talk to the doc first, cause you should always talk to the doc first...
I did a 10K with very little training. Check out the "Couch to 5K" running program: http://www.c25k.com/. I've used their podcasts off and on for the past year or so. :)
bliss and rob did the couch to 5k a few years ago. and rob eventually worked himself up to the marathon this past oct.
I ran a race last St. Patty's Day in Seattle where the racers dress in costume and are greeted with a beer garden at the end...there's a race for everyone, my friend!
