I'm on a dating site, because I don't drink anymore so meeting a guy in a bar is not an option. And the majority of my friends are gay men and while they are delightful...all of their friends are other gay men and girls like me. Or girls who are actually other gay men. I do have a large group of straight male friends as well, it's just that they are all married to my girl friends. My straight male friends have many straight male friends who are married to other girls I don't know. You see the vicious cycle forming here.
I've tried internet dating before and it is always so awkward but I thought I would give it one more try. It seemed to be going ok, until this happened:
"I am rare for an Asian man--my friends constantly tell me---since i much prefer a very voluptuous woman. i like that you're full figured, as a REAL woman should be. may I inquire a bit into how blessed (curvy) you are? perhaps black/latin men love you, huh? :-)"
Just, wow.
I ran that by a couple of friends and everyone had the same reaction "Oh. Dear. God."
I don't even really know what to say. Despite it's generalizing of Asian, Black and Latino men we are also revealing some serious fetishes and calling me fat all in one sentence. It's amazing really.
So I am quitting the dating site and joining weight watchers online instead.
I wish I could get more upset about this, but it's just so funny. I mean, not the part about being a voluptuous, because that part is completely accurate. I know that if anyone were to take a look at me today, in my hot jeans and sassy toggle-closed grandma sweater and gray Kangaroo sneakers with my sexy ponytail, eating my leftover pizza from last night it would give a whole new meaning to the phrase "Real Woman".

holy god!
i think you should stick with the dating site,
start posting really absurd pictures of yourself,
and then blog about all the bizarre responses that you get.
then write a play about it.
that response was amazing! I reminded me of this. You ever heard this: http://www.filecabi.net/video/olgaphone.html
