Bracelet Hoarder

As it turns out, I may have a little problem.

I may have a little bracelet shopping problem.

Not so much shopping as collecting.

Here's what I mean. There are things that I like. And at some point I have had some sort of emotional response to. For instance, red bracelets. I bought a red bracelet once because I thought "I don't have a lot of red in my wardrobe" and then when I wore it I always enjoyed seeing it on my wrist.

The other day, two years later, I bought another red bracelet and when I got home I thought to myself..."I think I might actually have three now..." As it turns out...I had unconsiously purchased SEVEN red bracelets throughout the years.

Who on earth needs seven red bracelets?

Each time I bought one I thought, "Hmm, I don't have a lot of red in my wardrobe, this might be nice..."

Here they are in all their glory...

So I decided I have too many bracelets, and those are just the red ones. I thought "Time to get rid of a few." But which ones? From wrist to elbow I can tell you each of their stories. The first is the bracelet I bought for the opening of my show Ruby Wilder. The next one comes from my favorite place to buy jewelry (not telling!) and has a rooster on it with the word "Luck" on the back. I wear it all the time. The next one...I actually don't know where I got that one, but it's one of my favs. The next one I got in Oregon on vacation with my birthparents. The next one is fancy and beaded, it's for dressing up. The next one I bought the other day because I'm really into ostrich feathers now and that one has them painted on. That was the bracelet that made me realize I had too many bracelets. The last one I actually MADE with beads I stole from my friend Lisa while visiting her in Milwaukee. One of the beads is a squirrel.

Sigh. I'm going to put a poll up on the sidebar about how many bracelets I have total and you guess. For however many people there are in the correct category, that's how many bracelets I will get rid of.

I didn't know I was such a bracelet junkie.

dude. i think you should keep them all. i think that you should put them on a stick and leave them out as a decorative element. i think there's no such thing as 'too many.' of course, you've seen the way i live.
